The California Senate has passed a bill that would require all semi-auto handguns sold by 2008 to have micro-stamping technology that will stamp spent shell casings with a code that will supposedly link spent shell casings with the gun that fired it. This technology is meaningless as a crime prevention tool. The fine metal imprinting head located on the firing pin will be subject to much abuse and wear. A gun that has had many rounds cycled through it might lose the ability to imprint either through wear or a build up of residue. The system is also subject to user modification. The imprinting parts can simply be replaced or modified
Mayor Ray "never seen a gun I didn't wanna confiscate" Nagin again shows us how to win friends and influence people. In a recent CBS interview, when the interviewer made mention of the flooded out cars still littering the streets in New Orleans, Nagin replied:
"You guys in New York can't get a hole in the ground fixed, and it's five years later. So let's be fair"
David Hardy points out this Wikipedia entry on the Joyce Foundation. This entry may not stay up for long in its current form once the liberalizing forces of Wiki's 'editors' get their hands on it. The Joyce Foundation which was established about 60 years ago to "improve the quality of life in the Great Lakes region”, since 1993 has been one of the principal funders of the national gun control movement in America. In the last 10 years, they have funded the Violence Policy Center alone to the tune of $4.2 million and fund much of the phony gun control "scholarship" that occurs in this country.
