Jersey City's gun rationing scheme was defeated this week because it violated state equal protection principles and state preemption. However, the Jersey Journal today mentions that gun rationing has been taken up by the state legislature.
"I am happy that Jersey City's ordinance has inspired pending (state) legislation that will hopefully limit gun purchases to one gun a month for the entire state," [Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah] Healy added, referring to legislation sponsored by state Sen. and Bayonne Mayor Joseph V. Doria Jr. and Jersey City Assemblywoman Joan Quigley.
A municipality might not be able to pass such an ordinance but the above legal impediments disappear when the state itself does so. Our celebration might be short-lived. If I am missing anything, let me know but I don’t believe there is anything preventing the state from passing such legislation. The Second Amendment certainly is not recognized in this state.
New Jersey has convened a state commission to examine such inventions as the "bullet loophole" and "ammunition straw purchasers." They are also examining internet ammunition sales

A Canadian member of Parliament Garry Breitkreuz has released some gun crime statistics collected since the passage of the Canadian gun registry that were intentionally withheld by Canada's national statistics agency, Statistics Canada.
Among other statistics is this one:
OF THE TWO-MILLION LICENCED GUN OWNERS IN CANADA
Even in Canada as we see elsewhere, gun owners are among the most law abiding citizens in the country and aren't abusing their right to bear arms.

Bitter has some great coverage of the JC gun rationing trial. A few select details
Her round up is worth reading. In the end, the JC/CeaseFireNJ legal team had no argument and no legal ground to stand on and all they did was waste the judge’s time by submitting pure propaganda. I'm grateful Judge Maurice Gallipoli dedicated the time to read the full documents but also called them on their shenanigans.
