Senate Votes To Ban Gun Confiscations During Emergency PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 15 July 2006

In the wake of the widespread firearms confiscations, a number of states passed initiatives making to codify that no one  in government in that state has the authority to confiscate firearms during a state of emergency.  A similar measure has come before the US senate and passed by a margin of 84 to 16.  Who were the 16 that voted against your right to defend yourself?  No big surprises other than Kerry voting for the measure:

U.N. Gun Ban Conference--Ending in Failure? PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 08 July 2006
Dave Kopel is reporting that the U.N. gun control conference has ended with no final conclusion and no agreement on a future conference schedule.  In the event of a lack of an agreement, their fall back plan was to hold a conference again when there is a US administration more open to global gun control.  John Bolton opposed both and they got neither.  Kopel feels that despite what people think about Bush's domestic gun positions and the fact that he's done little to expand our legal rights, that he has really come through for us on the international stage and that the gun control activists who were so instrumental in 2000 and 2004 have really gotten their money's worth.
