Have you seen this before? “All persons are by nature free and independent, and have certain natural and unalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and of pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness.” (Emphasis mine.) It's from the New Jersey State Constitution. The very first article. According to this, our state government isn't supposed to stop us from trying to protect ourselves. But they do. With a vengeance. And I mean vengeance. |
