How do NJ federal representatives rate on immigration?  Not too good I'm afraid.

PA No Longer Honoring FL Non-resident Permits? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Robert Rose
Monday, 04 June 2007

Two pieces of information have recently come to light that cast a dim light on the perceived legality of NJ residents being able to carry concealed in PA with a FL non-resident permit.

1) This letter from PA Senior Deputy Attorney General George Zaiser.  Despite assurances he gave earlier, he is now saying that the PA reciprocation agreement does not give people with non-resident permits from states with reciprocation the right to carry. (via 5thCavGuy and jerseydevil).

2) This letter from Ken Wilkinson Florida Ag Department's Division of Licensing.  Florida is at this time recommending that you not carry concealed in PA on a Florida permit (via navyman).

However this shakes out in the end, be careful, exercise caution and good judgment, and try not to make yourself the test case.

Thanks to all the NJCSD members and friends who are doing great footwork on this.

NJ Supreme Court Nomination PDF Print E-mail
Written by Robert Rose
Monday, 04 June 2007

Corzine is expected to nominate Attorney General Stuart Rabner for chief justice of the Nj Supreme Court.  He could serve until 2030 when he reaches the mandatory retirement age.

Much like the governership of New Jersey, the position of chief justice is quite powerful.  The chief justice is soley responsible for promoting judges from the NJ superior court system into the NJ appellete court.  He also determines the length of time they server there and there assignments.

Rabner has no experience on the bench having previously been turned down for a federal judgeship and a NJ superior judgeship so there is no telling what kind of judge he will make.  But if he is confirmed (which is likely in this state) I hope he is the right man to serve for the next generation.

[UPDATE]  Here is a sample of some of the shenanigans that go on with NJ Supreme Court justices.
