The NJ Democratic Party Hates Gay People PDF Print E-mail

The head of the New Jersey Democratic Party had some harsh words for a transgendered Cher impersonator who was scheduled to perform at an NJ Gay Caucus event.  Diane Legreide, executive director of the state Democratic Party said:

“We cannot have that walking in the hallway…. You cannot have that inside your caucus... The State Committee will not have someone like that attending the dinner. That cannot come inside the ballroom... What if the press sees that? What if they report on that in tomorrow’s papers?” [Emphasis added--ed]

Diane Legreide is quite insensitive to the lives and feelings of other people.  It would have been considered disrespectful enough if she had chosen refer to the entertainer as "him."  But to refer to ANY human being under ANY circumstance as "it" or "that" is offensive in the extreme.  It is dehumanizing.  Was Lagreide at least contrite for the insult she had levied?

In a press release issued Monday, [Garden State Equality’s Steven] Goldstein alleged that Legreide seemed indifferent to the fact that she was repeatedly referring to a transgendered performer as “that,” even as she stood near Barbra Casbar, a leading trans activist who is president of the Stonewall Democrats.

I can't even imagine such boorish behavior and then refusing to apologize.  At an event which should have been a safe space for LGBT's no less.   It is beyond me why homosexuals continue to vote for this party.  They are valued only for the votes they cast and they get from being the "party of tolerance".  Is it because the democrats are promising them gay marriage?  Well, no, it obviously isn't that:

Marriage equality is the top priority of the gay community. But most elected Democrats oppose it, saying the domestic-partnership law that extends some legal rights to gay couples went far enough.

Why not vote alongside the NJCSD for candidates who fully support your right to keep and bear arms and want to defend your ability to protect your body, life, and property against violence with force?  Alongside libertarians (both small 'l' and large L) who don't care who you are, how you were born, or how you live your life?

I hate to tell you this but if you are LGBT and a Democrat, you just got bashed by your own party.
