Enlighten-New Jersey blog has excellent coverage of the upcoming NJ Senate election. It is all their research so I'll just quote this post:
If you’re interested in finding out where Tom Kean and Bob Menendez
stand on the issues – read the U.S. Senate candidates’ responses and
rebuttals in the debate hosted at the Hall Institute and their answers to questions posed by the New Jersey League of Women Voters.
Unfortunately, neither of these sets of issue statements cover gun
rights or self-defense rights. However, it is will known where
Menendez stands on the issue of gun rights. Kean stance is a little
more complex. As Steve Lonegan has said, Kean is, "soft on gun
rights." But it is my expectation that once in the senate, he will
generally caucus with the Republicans and we have a better than even
chance that he will vote with us. Also worth reading is this post on how Kean's voting record is being completely distorted by the press.
Just remember when you hear people espousing the Menendez party line
that they want a senator who will stand up to George Bush, remind them
that Menendez voted for the Bush "torture bill". A bill Kean said he would have voted against.
Many thanks to Enlighten-New Jersey.
