In an NRA-ILA Alert in my inbox this morning:
In a
lengthy and carefully reasoned decision read from the bench, New Jersey
Superior Court Judge Maurice Gallipoli declared Jersey City's one gun a
month handgun rationing law null and void, holding that it violates
state pre-emption, equal protection, and was "arbitrary and capricious."
Even state preemption in place in New Jersey, I wasn't fully confident the courts would arrive at this decision. You don't have to follow the NJ Supreme Court for long to realize that the law has little bearing on what the courts decide. This is but one small battle in the war for our civil rights in this state.
Kudos to the ANJRPC who filed the suit and the NRA-ILA, NRA Civil Defense Fund, and the NJAFD who all supported it.
[UPDATE] ANJRPC has the story online now.
