The ATF wants to destroy a priceless American war relic (sign in via bugmenot) - the Maxim machine gun Seargent York stormed and captured single handedly killing 25 Germans and capturing 132 prisoners single handedly.  The problem is that this important piece of American history is not politically correct as it lacks the proper NFA paperwork which has been impossible to obtain for decades.  Sadly, the ATF agent on the case has no knowledge of who York was. 

 The article implies that only an act of congress can safe the gun.  Who is the owner of the weapon appealing to for legislative relief?  None other than John Kerry.  Good luck with that.  Another way to save the gun would be for the Secretary of the Treasurey to have a general amnesty, as authorized by the GCA of 1968.
