It's high time we had a victory for our side. According to the Pennsylvania Attorney General, they have made official and public their position on "nonresident" right-to-carry permits from Florida.
It's not often that we have the opportunity report GOOD NEWS, but based on the fine work of Judith Brown, the PA Second Amendment Sisters representative, and the support of firearms advocates in our state and elsewhere, we finally have a decision in our favor. The PA Attorney General has confirmed that they will recognize a FL 'nonresident' permit. As many of you know, FL does not make a distinction between resident and nonresident, and we now finally have an OFFICIAL clarification, despite the politically motivated objection by the PA State Police. Based on Ms. Brown's further inquiries, the PA State Police have indicated they will post an update to their website deferring to the PA AG's instructions, which is how our system of government is supposed to work. The notion that law enforcement officials can interpret the law on their own is a chilling reminder of how far we've fallen and the danger of what might come if we don't stand up for our rights. We must be ever-vigilant. Despite this great news, it is important to remember that the enemies of freedom never rest. This victory is only temporary. We have made the PA Website pages available for you in the form of an Adobe Acrobat file to make it easier for you to print. The link is below. Please keep a copy when you travel in PA. http://www.njcsd.org/files/PA-AG-FL.pdf Although this is not a "pass" and will not prevent an overzealous and undertrained trooper from arresting you, this should help clarify matters for the officer, should there be any doubt. On behalf of gun owners and patriots everywhere, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Second Amendment Sisters, and Ms. Brown, for the fine work done on this matter. This is just one more example of what can happen when a lot of people band together, along with a little determination, to help get something done. Yes, indeed we CAN win, when we put our minds to it! |
