Dateline: Chicago. Another shopping mall. Another gun-free zone. Another body count. Another story of women victimized. Another story of police not there to help. Funny, the local law enforcement officials haven't established a motive yet, but that robbery has not been ruled out. Sure. Because when I think "cash cow holdup", I think Lane Bryant. Who needs a bank, or convenience store when there are espadrilles to be had? Right. Hey, rocket scientists... here's the motive. Just look for the woman who filed for the restraining order to "protect" her from the disgruntled ex-boyfriend/husband/stalker. It never ceases to amaze us here at the NJCSD that for some reason, gun control advocates keep insisting that the solution is that we need more gun control. That after more than four decades of failed gun control policies that a bit more will help. For those who question our wisdom, ask yourself where will your wife, sister, daughter or mother be when disaster strikes? We challenge the Chicago politicians to explain to us how this result is morally superior than allowing us our basic human rights to protect ourselves with a firearm. Unless they're about to tell us that women are incapable of mounting a defense or handling firearms. Then the mayors of every major city will be compelled to explain why we have female police officers. Now THAT would certainly be an explanation I'd love to hear! I wonder how the National Organization for Women would reconcile such a paradox between victim disarmament and women's liberation. It pains me to say, but "we told you so.
