"The police are very cautious not to make this seem like a heroic act. They say fighting back can sometimes end with the victims being more seriously hurt." Is it me, or does this seem to be the standard "official" response to self-defense these days? A home invasion in Las Vegas could have ended with the discovery of four bodies - two of them, women, would have shown signs of brutal sexual assault, and who knows what fate would have ultimately befallen the two men. Luckily, these four didn't get the "official" memo on how to handle violent thugs. They DID fight back, and they lived to tell the tale. In the process, they also showed any dirtbags who might be paying attention that we the people aren't resigned to being pushovers - as opposed to our so-called caretakers, who seem determined to lecture, berate and legislate the basic instinct of survival right out of existence.
