Actors and politics. We see them mixing all the time, with results ranging from comical to outright ridiculous. But the majority are simply going with the flow; they garner the accolades of their peers effortlessly, because the info-tainment industry amounts to nothing more than synonymous fish swimming in circles in a small pond. There's no risk (or dare we say sincerity?) behind the platitudes.
Then there was Charlton Heston, who was unabashedly conservative in a liberal enclave. Certainly we remember him most for his legendary films and his support of Second Amendment rights. But Charlton Heston was 84 years old when he passed away on April 6, and not many of us realize just what he was able to accomplish in those years. Jeffrey Ressner has penned a fitting tribute to a fearless man.
