Christie is an awful choice, agreed. However I still took time off work and went down to the courthouse to vote for him(outta town the 3rd). Because as stated, this IS a critical election, as a second term for Corzine will only embolden him to continue more of the same terrible policies. Lonegan is the right choice for us, but it ain't gonna happen, so please don't waste a valuable vote.
Sucks that this place is so crappy these are the only two knuckleheads nominated. Sigh.

I think a second term for Corzine emboldens the Obama administration. I really didn't want to vote for Christie, but I don't see any alternative. Sitting out is out of the question and Christie, at the very least, is a stop gap. If this state rejects the "Chosen One's" man, then maybe a message can be sent to the rest of the nation. One can hope, right? What margin did Obama win here by?

I just wanted to add to my list some of the points that others have made as reasons to vote for Christie rather than Dagget, writing in Lonegan, or staying home.

1. Christie has stated that he will not sign any more gun control laws, while Corzine is actively pushing .50 cal ban and others, including the statement that he will outlaw armor piercing rifles -- whatever the heck that means.
2. Christie is an attorney. He is more likely to understand and appreciate the meaning of MacDonald v. Chicago and the resulting required changes to NJ law to comply with incorporation.
3. The Firearms Taskforce is essentially working for Corzine and will capitulate to his desires. Under Corzine, it will continue to be a tool to avoid compliance with incorporation for as long as possible. Under Christie, we have a chance to change the makeup of the TF to be more balanced and address and change the more egregious laws.
4. A Republican Governor is a BIG plus during redistricting. We need redistricting to be in favor of Republicans to ever have a chance at getting more Republicans into the Legislature. Positive gun laws will never make it out of committee otherwise.

5. Even though Christie is less conservative than we would like, defeating Corzine would send more of a message than writing in Lonegan or not voting.
6. 4 NJ Supreme Court Justices are subject to being replaced by the next Governor. Better to have Christie who expressed more conservative views when it comes to picking justices.

Also, I just wanted to say that I appreciate the debate in this thread. It really made me think about what I should do. There were excellent points all around. Ultimately, numbers 4 and 6 clinched it for me.
