What do you think an armed intruder can accomplish in 7 minutes?
Would 'locked doors' stop an armed assailant? Would the police always arrive in 7 minutes? What about your school districts?

Let's see. Choreograph a good show, get the news reporters a good view, go through the motions and declare victory. How about if some terrorists came in with explosives? How well would those locked doors hold up then? Too bad they wussed out and let the kids back inside; it would be interresting to find out how long the kids remained bunched up in the parking lot and vulnerable to a car bomb. Keep in mind, Columbine was not supposed to go down as it did. The guns were only to finish off survivors. Most of the killings were supposed to be the result of bombs. It only turned into a shooting when the bombs turned out to be defective. I expect any self-respecting terrorist would be able to make a reliable Improvised Explosive Device.

An afternoon of violence in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - An 18-year-old student was shot outside an Atlantic City school Thursday, and another man was fatally shot in a separate attack several blocks away, police said.
The male student, Tarik Bright, was shot in the left leg and taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.
She said a suspect hasn't been arrested in the shooting.
The student was shot as he crossed the street outside the Viking Academy School, an alternative school of about 240 students grades 7-12, Mayor Scott Evans said. The school was briefly locked down, though many students had already left the building for the day, the mayor said.
Two people were arguing in front of the school when one of them pulled out a weapon and fired, McMenamin said.

Several minutes after the shooting, at 12:45 p.m., police pulled over a man for a traffic stop, but the man drove away, McMenamin said.

She said police eventually blocked him in, but he got out of the car and threw a handgun onto the roof of a homeless shelter. The fire department retrieved the gun, and marijuana was found on the man, she said.
The man in the traffic stop, though, isn't believed to have been the shooter outside the school, McMenamin said.
Then, at 1:15 p.m., another man was fatally shot in the head on a street several blocks away, Evans said. Police arrested the suspected gunman soon afterward, he said.
McMenamin said police don't believe the three incidents are connected.
The Atlantic City shooting comes a day after a 10-year-old accidentally fired a gun at Linden school.
